Squad EMT Courses
The Westfield Rescue Squad does not currently offer classes, such as CPR or First Aid to the general public. These classes are offered locally by the American Red Cross Westfield/Mountainside Chapter.
Courses listed are for current EMT Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit. Some classes are run by the Squad while others are not. The latter use the Squad building as a place to hold the class.
If you are a member of a New Jersey volunteer rescue squad, most classes are eligible to be paid for by the NJ EMT Training Fund (PDF 23K). The EMT-Basic classes use a different form (PDF 23K).
These upcoming classes are open to all NJ EMTs. Some of these the classes are run by Less Stress Instructional Services and held at the Squad building. Register for those classes through Less Stress either online or by phone. Contact them if you have questions or need other information.

- Begins June 15 - August 15 (Mon & Wed: 7-10 pm, Sun: 8am - 4pm) EMT-Basic (Summer Course) - $550 or EMT-B Class Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- July 12th (9am - 5pm) CEVO III (8 CEUs) - $65 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- Aug 9th (9am - 5pm) PEPP (8 CEUs) - $95 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- Aug 16th (9am - 3:30pm) Defensive Driving Course (6 CEUs) - $60 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- Aug 29th (1- 4pm) Triage Review (3 CEUs) - $30 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- Oct 17th (9am- 5pm) GEMS (8 CEUs) - $95 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
- Dec 17th, 18th (6:30 - 10:30pm), 13th & 14th (8am - 4:30pm) CORE 13 / COREs 1-12 - $185 or NJ Training Fund form (PDF 23K) accepted
The NJ Office of Emergency Medical Services maintains a database listing CEU classes given at other places around New Jersey.
To renew your EMT-B certification you must meet the following requirements:
- NJ EMT-B certification - within 3 years you must get
- 24 elective CEUs
- plus 24 CORE CEUs
- current CPR card
